Just in case you haven’t noticed long is in! As in long skirts and mid-length skirts. These skirts are referred to as Maxi, and Midi skirts and dresses. These dresses and skirts are perfect for any body type! I love how versatile these skirts and dresses are; you can dress them up or down.

Okay let us start with the most familiar of the three, the maxi dress. This look really became well known last summer. These dresses are a great way to stay cool and look feminine without having to bare to much skin. I like the cut of the above dress because it cinches at the waist, which is the smallest area on a woman’s body. This cinched waist is a slimming feature.I recommend the above dress for all body types. Now remember all maxi dresses are not created equal. There are many variations and cuts of this style of dress. I recommend trying on whichever dress you are interested in first because all dresses fit each person differently. If you are plus size be careful with the ultra billowy styles it can create a false baby bump, and no one wants to be asked if they are pregnant if they are not.
Good Pairings for the Maxi dress:
Women’s Cropped Denim Jacket $24.99 Old Navy
Hive & Honey Chambray Circle Skirt $54.00 Piperlime.com
The next one on our list is the midi skirt. I absolutely love this length and shape. I always say wear an a-line skirt because it works with every figure. If you are hippy it flows nicely past them, if you have no hips it helps create them. In addition, if you are plus-size it helps to balance you out. This skirt style can be worn many ways. You can easily dress it down by pairing it with flat sandals like in the above picture. You can also dress it up with a lacey top and nude pumps. One of my favorite ways to wear this skirt is with a pair of loafers that have a nautical twist for that ultimate preppy look!
Good pairings for the Midi Skirt:
Women’s Poplin-Stretch Dress Shirt $15.00 Old Navy.com
Woman’s Boat Shoes $22.50 Old Navy.com
Smocked Tiered Maxi Skirt $29.99 Charlotte Russe
All right last but not least the maxi skirt. The maxi skirt has a similar feel to the maxi dress except the maxi skirt is a little more versatile with how you style it. With the maxi skirt it is best to pair with a more fitted top or body skimming top so you can keep up that that streamlined long lean look. Depending on the style of skirt you get determines the overall feel of the total ensemble. These skirts are great for that boho chic look. Just be careful, you don’t want to over do it by pairing the skirt with ultra loose pieces.
Good pairings for the maxi skirt:
Flora Spring Chiffon Top $19.80 Forever 21
Swing Slub Top $12.80 Forever 21
Final thoughts. In all I recommend buying at least one of the styles they are all very fun that add instant chic! Some additional hints for wearing them. When wearing the maxi dress or skirt it is best to wear sandals or open-toed sandals. Closed shoes stop that lean look that the rest of the outfit has going. When wearing the midi skirt you can wear close-toed or open toed shoes because you have more leg showing.
